Cuthbert Grym was pledge for Andro Fishar, 1488 (Lanark, p. 4), and William Grime was burgess of Montrose, 1635 (Jervise, I, p. 161). Sir James Grym was co-notary in Strathmiglo, 1541 (Gaw, 63). Isobel Gryme is recorded in Montrose, 1641, and another Isobel Grim in Dundee, 1683 (Brechin) "I'm damned if I will sail with you, Sir Graham, Though I may seem uncivil, But Graham is Graeme, and Graham is Grim, And Grim, sir, is the Devil." - Old Ballad.
