GRUNDISTOUN: A brief of inquest was purchased by Thomas Grundistone, 1478 (ADC., p. 5). David Grundistoune de Kingask was juror on inquest at Cupar, 1516, and Thomas Grundistoune sat as sheriff-depute in Cupar in 1518 (SCBF., p. 50,136). Mirabell Grundieson is in record in Fife in sixteenth century (Macfarlane, II, p. 190), and Thomas Grandiston of Kingask and Walter Grandiston of Glaslie were jurors on inquest held at Cupar, 1505 (ibid., II, p. 537). Thomas of Grundystoun witness, 1439, and David Grundistoun, witness, 1516 (Binns, 9, 28). Alexander Grundistoun and Thome Grundistoun had precept of remission for slaughter committed on William Lousoun, 1529 (RSS., II, 69). Walter Grundestoun was retoured heir of his brother David Grundestoun, 1544 (Retours, Fife, 3), Thomas Grundistoune of Kingask was charged in 1558 with abiding from the raid of Lauder (Trials, I, p. 404), and Patrick Grundestoun was constable of the parish of Cults, in Fife, 1633 (RPC., 2. ser. V, p. 94). There is a Grundiston near Hawick.
