Gilbert Heware, chaplain, witnessed an instrument of sasine, 1446 (Irvine, I, p. 137), and Robert Hafere was one of the perambulators of the bounds of Prestwick, in the same year (Prestwick, p. 116). "John Haveris airis" in Prestwick are mentioned in 1470, "Wille Hewyre was maid burgesse" of the burgh in 1482, and Will Haver "wes our tane for a common seller of pettis" in 1497 (Prestwick, p. 6, 29, 33). In the same record the name is also spelled Hafwery and Hauere 1509, Haifry 1514, Haverve 1505, Havery 1499, Hawery 1513.
