From Heiton near Kelso, Roxburghshire. Richard de Hetun appears as a charter witness, c. 1190 and 1214 (Melros, 153,154). Magister John de Hetun, a churchman, witnessed a grant to Cambuskenneth Abbey, c. 1180 (Cambus., 15), canon of Dunkeld, 1216 (Pap. Lett., I, p. 46), and charter witness, c. 1215 18 (LAC., 33). He also witnessed the gift of Ruthyrgasc to the Abbey of Scon before 1214 (Scon, p. 20), and the charter of Maderin (Madderty) to the Abbey of inchaffray, c. 1215—21 (Inchaffray, p. 31). Adam de Hetune sold to the monks of Melrose the land of Hungerig and the meadow of Holemede c. 1227—38 (Melros, p. 257—258). Nicholas de Hedon, archdeacon of Moray, 1254 (Pap. Lett., I, p. 295). John of Heton of Roxburghshire rendered homage, 1296. His seal bears an eightleaved figure, and S' Ioh's de Hettvn (Bain, II, p. 199,532).
