From Hutcheon, French Huchon, diminutive of Hugh, which see. James Huchonsone held a land in Glasgow, 1454 (LCD., p. 175), John Huchonson was admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1466 (NSCM., I, p. 19), George Huchunson, burgess of Glasgow in 1471 reappears as George Hucheson in following year (REG., 395; Sc, Ant., XVII, p. 119). Thom Huchonson had a precept of remission for his share in burning Lochfergus, 1488 (RSS., I, 3), and Robert Huchonsone, 'sangster and master of the organis' in Aberdeen is referred to again in 1496 as Huchosone and Huchonsoun (SCM., V, p. 30, 32, 34). John Huchonsoun had a remission for slaughter committed by him, 1497 (Rose, p. 164), William Huchison was tenant of Uthirdoy, Ardmanoch, 1504 (ER., XII, p. 661), and Peter and James Huchonsone were members of assize at Cupar, 1521 (SCBF., p. 223). John Hutchesone was retoured heir of Hugh alias Hutcheoun Alistersoun in certain lands in the sheriffdom of Inverness, 1624. George and Thomas Hutcheson, brothers, founded the hospital in Glasgow which bears their name in 1639—41. Howchesoun 1519, Huchesoune 1550, Huchisone 1505, Huchwsone 1515, Hwchwson 1525, Hwchesoun 1513, Hwtchwson 1525.
