This surname is derived from a geographical locality. 'of Ingoldmells,' a parish in Lincolnshire, five miles from Burgh. Of course it was impossible for the name to be conversationally so pronounced. It was too much trouble. Thus it has become Ingamells. It is still closely attached as a surname to the county. In the following entry it is curiously corrupted to Ingamells, or perhaps it is misprinted.
