From Inverarity in the parish of the same name in Angus. A David Enererity is mentioned in 1675. James Inverarity was a nephew of Robert Fergusson the poet. Eliza Inverarity was a celebrated singer in the thirties of last century (SN&Q., II. ser. VIII, p. 65—66), and William Innerarity was minister of Caputh in 1832. Inverarity is entirely distinct from Inverharity and Inverquharity (locally pronounced Inverwharity) both in the same county.
