Lower has Izatson in his Patronymica Britannica. I have not yet met with an instance. He suggests that it is a corruption of Isaacson. I doubt not it must be placed here.

Jeanna Easet was retoured heir portioner of Thomas Easet in Kilwinning, 1599 (Retours, Ayr, 20), and George Ezat was admitted burgess of Glasgow, 1630 (Burgesses). George Izat, shipmaster in Kincardine, 1785 (Dunblane). Seven persons of the name Ezat or Eizat are recorded in the neighborhood of Culross and Tulliallan in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries (ibid.). The name is explained as later forms of Isoud, Ysolde (Ysoude), or Iseult, daughter of the duke of Brittany and wife of Tristram of the Arthurian legend. Esat 1621, Eyzatt and Ezatt 1644.
