At first sight this name would seem to be Jeremy, which see, but Blomefield in his History of Norfolk, to which county the Jermys belong, says positively that Jermin is the true parent; v. Jarman. This is likely to be true, as Jermyn has been for centuries a Norfolk patronymic.
