Perhaps local from Jesmond, Newcastle-on-Tyne, spelled Gesmond in 1414, Jessemond in 1449, and Jasemond in 1772. John Jesseman and William Jessieman are recurded in the lordship of Huntly, 1600 (SCM., IV, p. 262,265). James Jessimen in Westertoun, 1654 (Strathbogie, p. 254), John Jessieman in Drumdelgie, parish of Bollerie, 1710 (Moray), James Jessyman and John Jessyman in the parish of Dumbennan, 1716 (SCM., IV, p. 171), Ann Jessamin appears in Aberdeen, 1770 (Aberdeen CR.), and John Jessiman and Thomas Jessiman were members of the Huntly Volunteers, 1798 (Will, p. 7). Alexander Jessamine of Gretna died 1937.
