Jungjohann Surname User-submission:

It comes from Jungjohann. The only reason it's different is probably in cases where a family member joined the military. In my father's case and his uncle's, when they signed up for the Navy they told them to drop the second 'n' because it was redundant.

Jungjohann Surname Meaning

User-submitted Reference

It comes from Jungjohann. The only reason it's different is probably in cases where a family member joined the military. In my father's case and his uncle's, when they signed up for the Navy they told them to drop the second 'n' because it was redundant. Half my family are Jungjohanns and the rest of us are Jungjohans! Jungjohann doesn't really have a particular meaning other than "young Johan." Not really sure who Johan was, but last names came from appearance/father's name/whatever, so maybe it was Johan's son, the young Johan?
