I am a kaced, I know things about my origins and the kaceds, I am from Tizi ouzou Algeria, my village is named ait salah and is located in bouzegan ,a province in tizi ouzou near the akfadou forest.salah is the great grandfather of kaci (the one who we get the name kaced from) and we live in the mountains.our family has a place in ait salah called ath kaci and is the place where a lot have the kaced surname.by the way we all agree that we are kabyle a d of berber origins (north african natives).now kaced came in the frensh era (the frensh colonised algeria for 130 years)and changed everyones surname to make them look frensh.the frensh treated the kabyles differently than the others by putting all of their force on making them frensh because they saw them as more European than the other Algerians because kabyles have European features like blue eyes and blond hair and a lot of the kaceds have red hair (my sister also have hair and both our parents are algerian and kabyle and they dont have red hair which is very rare to happend) and they choosed the name kaced from kaci to make it pronounce like it is frensh
We pronounce it in frensh like Kasad
After independence the algerian goverment choosed arab nationalism and tried to make these surnames more arab pronounced although they are berbers (arabisation of berbers) and some retained pronounced in arabic as kaced and some (in only arabic the rest stays kaced) is pronounced kasd which mean in arabic the one who is intended doing something and kasd isnt the true name because it isnt the original
