Jova and Jovo are two versions of the same name occurring in different regions in Serbia. Kara is an attribute usually given by Ottoman Turks to Serbs, which were giving them certain troubles, in this case Kara-Jova, meaning 'black Jova', in the end Karajović is a son of 'black Jova'.
