From the lands of (Easter and Wester) Keilor in the adjoining parishes of Newtyle and Kettins in Angus. The names are still common in the district. Stephen de Cellar, burgess of Roxburgh, 1262 (Melros, p. 294). Duncan de Cellario, burgess of Peril 1292 (Milne, p. 5) is doubtless Dunkan del Celer, burgess of Perth, who rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, 814 and p. 197). Ranubh de Kelor swore fealty at Kyndromyn (Kildrummy) in Mar in same year. His seal bears a cross crosslet fitche, cantoned with four pellets, S' Ranulphi d' Kelor (ibid., 800). Thomas de Cellar, burgess of Perth, 1345 (Scon, p. 127), and Stephen de Cellario, archdeacon of Brechin, 1372 (REB., I, 20). John de Kelore in 1383 granted to John de Ardlere an annual of six merks out of the two vills of Kelore (RMS., I, 727). This John appears to have been the last of his family who held lands in Angus, but the surname, as already mentioned, is by no means rare. Johannes de Kelor, juror on a trial in Moray, 1398 (REM., p. 212), Agnes Kelour or Kellor had a charter from David II of Kepnemade and the new park of Stirling (RMS., I, 179,225). Kelour was a personal name in Moray as well as a place name in Angus (Sc. Ant., XV, p. 68). Keloure 1296.
