From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

There is a Keiloch in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, but it is not certain that this is the place of origin. The references, with exception of the first, point to a source further south. Robert de Kellok received money from the Lord Chamberlain in 1343 (ER., I, p. 530). Anna de Keloche appears in Stirling, 1372 (RMS., I, 380,430), and David Kellocht witnessed a Fife deed in 1495 (Laing, 221). An annual rent of 6 bolls of oats from the land of Primrose was payable to Giles Kellock, 1567 (Pitfirrane, 161). Alexander Kellock was burgess of Dunfermline, 1581 (ibid., 269). Nicholas Kellok and William Kellok had each a charter of the third part of the mill of Lassodie or Lassody in 1606 (RD., p. 499). Archibald Kellok was burgess of Kirkaldie, 1650 (Inquis. Tut., 772), Robert Killocke was schoolmaster at Fawckland (Falkland), 1662 (Lamont, Diary, p. 127), and Robert Kellock was heir of James Kellock, portioner of Maistertoun, 1666 (Retours, Fife, 999). John Killoch, sometime in Pollmach appears in 1688 (Moray), and several Kelloks are recorded in the parish register of Dunfermline, 1561—1700. The name appears in Edinburgh, 1941. compare Killock.
