James Keltie was heir of John Keltie, burgess of Edinburgh, in 1616 (Inquis., 662), and Adam Keltie, servitor to the chancellor of Scotland in 1628 (REB., II, 244), appears in 1631 as one of the clerks to the Exchequer (Burgesses). The surname is also recorded in Edinburgh in 1647 (Edinb, Marr.), and is common in Dunblane Commissariot Record in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
