A prayer to the Commons in 1464, respecting the importations of foreign goods, mentions 'the makers of wollen cloth within this Reame (Realm) as Wevers, Fullers, Dyers, Kempsters, Carders, and Spinners' (Rot. Pari. Edward IV). compare 'unkempt locks.'
