John de Kilbrid witnessed a charter by Florence, bishop elect of Glasgow, c. 1202—07 (RMP., p. 110), Reginald de Kelbride was appointed an attorney in 1277 (Bain, I, 89), anc Gilbert de Kilbride of the county of Lanark rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, p. 204). Druwet de Kilbryde of the county of Arne, who also rendered homage in 1296 (ibid., p. 213), may have derived his name from the small town of (West) Kilbride in the district of Cunninghame, Ayrshire.
