User-submitted Reference
A family story I can remember from my childhood is that, ancestrally our collective surname was originally Plunket (or some derivative) and the population grew so large that a segment of the Plunkets changed their surname to Killen and other variants, after the name of the town in Ireland. Not too sure about the validity of this family lore, I haven't heard it come up for years if ever since. Maybe on the same note or another note I do know for a family line of mine's records could of been destroyed, I believe there was church fire in the mid 1700s.
