One possible explanation for the 'Lamica' spelling can be found in the following article:
Prof. Elliott, & Fortier, A.. (1885). The French Language in Louisiana, and the Negro-French Dialect. Modern Language Association of America. Proceedings, 2, xl–xlv. Retrieved from http://www.jstor.org/stable/455972There appears to be evidence that the 't' was pronounced as 'k' in some pre-unified French dialects- a number of which arrived in North America prior to the reform and standardization of the French language. The name may have been spoken by an illiterate speaker and recorded phonetically by a census taker or other official who relied on the hard 'c' for the 'k' that they heard.
