Local, from one or more of the places so named. There is Longmore near Ayr, and Langmuir near Kirkintilloch. Elice de la Longmore and Robert de Langemore of county of Edinburgh, and Johan de Langemore of Ayrshire rendered homage, 1296 (Bain, II, p. 199. 201,205, 210). John de Langmure de eodem, juror in Irvine, 1417 (Irvine, I, p. 20), probably derived from Longmuir near Kilmaurs. John of Langmuir is in record in 1424, and Robert Langomwire in 1524 (Irving, Dumbartonshire, p. 573,575). John Langmour, presbyter, witnessed a deed regarding the Collegiate Church of Dalkeith, 1477 (RHM.). George Langmur was on assize at Kirkcudbright, 1508 (Trials, I, p. 55) Henry Langmuir, burgess of Renfrew, 1574 (Campsie). Robert Langmure was heir of Isabella Langmure, his sister, in the 40s. land of Kirkland, 1609 (Retours, Ayr, 111). Jane Longmoor died in Birkenbog, 1854 (Fordyce, p. 90). Langmuire 1649.
