Lazarev Mikhail Petrovich (1788-1851) - Russian naval commander and navigator, admiral. In 1813-25. made three voyages around the world, including in 1819-21. (commanding the sloop 'Mirny') as part of the expedition of F.F. Bellingshausen, who discovered Antarctica. During the defeat of the Turks in the Battle of Navarino in 1827. commanded the battleship Azov. Since 1833 - Commander of the Black Sea Fleet and ports of the Black Sea.
