Lidhoo is a surname of Kashmiri Pandits, who lived in Sopore town, Kashmir. Lidhoo has its origin from present day Ladhoo town, South Kashmir, where from some Bhat families had migrated to Sopore town, North Kashmir for trade in early 1700s A.D. In order to make a difference in identifying them at a new place, they used to be called as 'Bhats from Ladhoo'. Ladhoo gradually got changed into Lidhoo or Lidhu or even Ladhu. While some families still write Bhat as their caste, some are comfortable with Lidhoo. Some write both Bhat-Lidhoo.
