Probably from Lilbourne in Warwickshire. William Lilburn was admitted burgess of Aberdeen in 1443 (NSCM., I, p. 8), and Angus Lilburn, burgess of Aberdeen, was a charter witness in 1464 (RAA., II, p. 136). Sir Henricus Lylburn, cleric, was charter witness in Aberdeen, 1477 (REA., I, p. 312), Alexander Libburn or Lilburn was curate of Kilmaronok in 1522, and James Lylburne or Lyllburne was liberated from the Canongate Tolbooth of Edinburgh in 1682 (BOEC., VIII, p. 137). James Lilburn from Kinross, exiled Covenanter, was drowned off Orkney, 1679 (Hanna, II, p. 253). Lilburne 1470, Lillburn 1668.
