'of Lambrigg' (1), a township in the parish of Kendal, Westmorland The suffix -brigg (bridge) often becomes brick; compare Philbrick and Maybrick, (a) Local 'of Limerick,' with an intrusive 'b' after m, as is so common. The surname would first become Limrick, then Lim-b-rick. I have an impression that if there are any low-lying hills about Limber in Lincolnshire, the origin is Limberigg, i.e. Limberidge, one who lived on the ridge thereby; compare Coleridge, &c.
