A very old name, quite common and distributed by Spain, coming in general, the personal name Latin lupus, "Lobo", well used as a personal name in the Middle Ages, referring to the values of the Lobo, by whose strength, courage, etc., it has always been admired in all cultures. There was therefore different houses of the name Lobo, unrelated to each other. In the original genealogies of Mendoza it says Wolf of Asturias come from a Goth gentleman who accompanied Don Pelayo from Covadonga and founded house in the municipality of Aller, leaving offspring in Castilla, which proceeded Condes, and in Portugal, Barons.Before the Royal Chancery of Valladolid proved his nobility Fco. Lobo Castrillo, a resident of Madrid, in 1607, and one (or perhaps the same) Fco. Lobo Castrillo, neighbor Navarrete (La Rioja) in 1620. Many more Lobo tested were the nobility in the Royal Chancery of Granada, including:. Fco Lobo, Villar del Rey (Caceres) in 1696; Baycan Andres Lobo, a resident of Cazorla (Jaén), in 1682; José Manuel Lobo and Arjona, a resident of Aracena (Huelva) in 1752, and Antonio Lobo Borja, a resident of Osuna (Seville) in 1707.
