The original spelling is Loncar. When we emigrated to the US, some of the family kept the original spelling, and the pronunciation changed to Lon-car (with a hard c). Others switched to the phonetic Loncher, to keep the pronunciation. The name Loncar means 'potter', as in one who makes pottery, in the Croatian language. It is highly likely that all Lonchers are related and from the same location of entry into the country, the Philadelphia port, and from there to Tyrone, PA in the early 1910-15s and then outward.
