Because the village was small, and had even fewer Jewish residents, it is likely that anyone with a variation of this name is somehow related. All Jewish residents were expelled from Lozuvatka by the end of the 18th century in accordance with the Russian Czar's edict banning Jews from villages. Most moved to nearby locales, including Shpola, Zvenigorodok, Belaya Tserkov, and, further away, Shpykiv. The branch that moved to Shpykiv emigrated to the United States in the early 20th century and Anglicized the name.
