Thom Lownan appears in Aberdeen 1408 (CWA., p. 312); Waultier Lowenan, clerk of Scotland, had a safe conduct into England, 1439 (Bain, IV, 1126). John Lownane held land in the Appilgate of Arnbroath in 1450 (RAA., II, p. 77), Dominus Laurencius Lownane had built a new school in Dundee in 1435, another John Lounane was a chaplain in Brechin in 1468 (REB., II, 111).
