LUNCART: A surname found in Strathdon in the seventeenth century. Of local origin from Lunchart, pronounced Lunkart, in the parish of Tullynessle. The place is now included in Muckletown. John Loncarte was exempted from process while in French service (RPC., VIII, p. 136). Tobias Lonkaird in Kinbothok was charged with violence in 1607 (RPC., VII, d. 393). Helen Luncard in Balzordie, 1656 (Brechin).
