'son of Andrew,' which see. Gaelic MacAindreis, for earlier MacGill'Andreis. The record spellings however have evidently been taken from the Lowland pronunciation of the name. There was a small sept of this name included in Clan Chattan, who were settled at Connage in Petty. Donald Makandro was one of the sufferers from the first hersbip of Petty, 1502 (Rose, p. 176—177). Makallum MacAndro in Murthlac, 1550 (Illus., II, p. 262). Dowgall McAndro Vuyear in Stuckvillige was fined for reset of Clan Gregor, 1613 (RPC., XIV, p. 645).
