MACCULLIE, Maccully, Macoulie: Softened forms of Macculloch, which see. Martin McColy in Moray had remission in 1363 (REM., p. 164). Maccullie appears in 1607 (RPC.). Gilbert M'Cullie was retoured heir of John M'Cullie in Whitrow in the bailiary of Carrick, his father, 1672 (Retours, Ayr, 575). Thomas M'Cullie in Plean parish of St. Ninians, 1679 (Stirling). Gilbert McUllie appears in parish of Caminell, 1686, and James McHuIlie was prisoner in Canongate Tolbooth, Edinburgh, in same year (RPC., 3. ser. XII, p. 232,337). Patrick McCullie in Corsehill of Kildies is in record, 1698 (Muthill), McColIy and McCuley 1686. Christine NcColly in 1706. (2) Maccullie is also a variant of Macwilliam (Macwillie) in Strathaven and Glenlivet.
