Gillascoppe Mahohegen appears in the reign of Alexander II in a trial in Edinburgh because he had not given the hostages he had undertaken to deliver into the king's hands (APS., I, p. 68). He appears again in 1223 as Gillescop Macihacian, witness in a charter by Thomas de Colvile of lands in Galloway to the Abbey of Melrose (Melros, p. 172).
