MACGURMAN, Macgurmen: A charge was made against John McGumian, tenant in Kirdells, by the laird of Grant, 1681 (RPC., 3. ser. VII, p. 186). Donald M'Guirinan in Nether Fernoch, 1685, appears again as M'Guirman (Argyll, p. 21, 39). John McGurman of Wester Gaulrig was a Jacobite of the '45. The name of the piper in the royalist army, 1651, is spelled Macgurmen (Fraser, Wardlevo ms., p. 379). There is an Airidh Mhic Guirmen in Jura. compare Macgrimen.
