MACIMPETHIN: Gillepatric Mac Impethin witnessed a charter by David l confirming earlier grants to Dunfermline Abbey, c. 1128 (RD., p. 4; APS., I, p. 358a). Gillecolme Mackthumpethin was a witness to the foundation charter of Dryburgh Abbey, c. 1150-1152 (Dryburgh, p. lxix). As Gillecolm mac chimpethin he witnessed a confirmation by David I, c. 1150, and as Gilcolm mac chimbethin he attested the gift of Nithbren and Balecristin to Dunfermline Abbey (RD., p. 7, 8). As Gillecolm Macghinbethin he perambulated the bounds of Balegallin (May, 2; Bain II, p. 527), and as Gillecolmi mach imbethi he witnessed a charter by Emaldus, bishop of St. Andrews, between 1160-62 (RPSA., p. 128).
