In 1292 the lands of Malcolm Mcluyr and others in Lorn were erected into the sheriffdom of Lome (APS., I, p. 91). The relict of Eugenius M'Yuar is mentioned in 1371 (HP., II, p. 147), and in 1427 a royal remission was granted Duncan Yvari, i.e. Maclver (Rose, p. 127). Terlach McEuar was charter witness at Camasserie, 1436 (Poltalloch Writs, p. 71). Archibald Makevire of Pennymoure appears as attorney for James Scrimgeoure, constable of Dundee, 1479 (HP,, II, p. 184-85), and his sons Archibalde Makewor and Eware Makewore appear as witnesses in the same document. "The Clan Iver lands were forfeited in the seventeenth century and were restored on condition that the heir should take the name of Campbell" (Henderson, p. 58). The form Macivor is due to its occurrence in Scott's Waverley, "and was never adopted by any family of position in the Clan in Scotland." As Iver was such a common Christian forename it would be impossible to name the particular Iver from whom the Macivers take their name. McEiver 1726, M'Euir 1533, M'Evar 1672, Makewer 1572, Euar M'Ewir 1529, M'Ewyre 1548. See also Macgure and Mackeever.
