MACNAKILL: Sir John of Argyll was authorized in 1306 to receive to the king's peace (among others) Johan M'Nakyld (Bain, IV, 1822). Jacobus Maknakill had remission for his share in burning the town of Dunbertane, 1489 (APS., 301, p. 34; Lennox, II, p. 133). John McNakill. chaplain, appears in record, 1493 (Cambus., p. 186), and Martin M'Knakyll held a tenement in Ayr, 1505 (Friars Ayr, p. 71). The escheat of John McAknakill is recorded in 1537 (ALHT., VI p. 324).
