MACVOREIS: John McVurist who was summoned in 1604 "to flit and remoiv him selff out and fra ane ruid burru biggit land" may be the Johne McVarrist, broustar, "bewest the wattir of Niss" referred to in 1613 (Rec. Inv., II, p. 23,115). Allester McVoreis in Dalchossane and Patrik McVoreist in Lany were fined for reset of Clan Gregor, 1613 (RPC., XIV, p. 631,643). Callum M'Voreist or M'Vorist was domestic servant to the laird of Glenurquhay in 1638 and Johnne M'Voreiss in Ochtermalie was a vassal of the laird in same year (BBT., p. 399,403). John and Patrick M'Voris raised an action against Donald M'NiccoIl for slaughter committed by him 1662 (Just. Rec., I, p. 57), Callum M'Vorish in Tombea is mentioned, 1664 (ibid., p. 113), and Duncan McVorist in Drumondernoch recovered decree for stolen goods, 1684 (RPC., 3. ser. VIII, p. 576).
