They resided in an area called Midai'n, but since the tribes of southern Jordan followed the practice of ending their names in either -een or -at, they were called Mdanat.
A lot of the Arab christian families in modern day Jordan, Syria, Palestine/Israel and Lebanon are actually descendants of four brothers. After the religious persecution of Christians in the Syrian region during the 1850s, they migrated to different areas.
