User-submitted Reference

This surname is of Slovak origin. Surnames ending with -ický are adjectives usually providing some information about the person who was first given the name. In this case it is the origin as Madunice is a village/small town in southern Slovakia. I stated Madunická as a variant because it is the same name but given to women due to certain rules in Slovak language. Variants Madunicky and Madunicka are the same names only without the diacritical sign above the last letter, since this sign in slavic names is omitted in English-speaking countries.
