One day a part of the tribe of Ndiaye hal pulaar had taken their oxen on a nomadic journey. Some time later they came back and the tribe that had been called the Manganes (the name in Senegal) came back and that is how the name Mangane is attributed to them. The Mangan are part of the direct descendants of Koli Tenguella (a Peulh warrior), he speaks peulh and are of clear complexion and confuses Mangane and Manga and believe that they are diolas while the Manganes are Peulh.
