From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

MAULVERER: Of territorial origin from Maulevrier in the arrondissement of Yvetot, Normandy. Hugh Maleverer witnessed resignation of land in Weremundebi and Anant, c. 1194-1214 (Bain, I, 606), and c. 11941211 he witnessed a confirmation charter of a fishery in Torduf (Holm Cultram, p. 35). Robert Maleverer had a grant of a ploughgate in the parish of Molle from the monks of Paisley, c. 1225-35, to which Simon Maleverer was a witness (RMP., p. 76-77). Hugh de Maulverer was witness to a grant by Robert de Dundovenald to Sir Robert de Brus of two carucates of land in the fee of Egilfechan, c. 1249 (Bain, I, 1793; Annandale, I, p. 7). Sir Humphrey de Mauleverer witnessed a quit claim of lands in Annan, a. 1245 (Annandale, I, p. 6). Huwe Mauleverer of Dumfriesshire and Rauf Mauleverer of Lanarkshire rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, p. 185,198), and in 1329 an annuity was paid to John Mauleverer (ER., I, p. 208).
