MACCAPPIN: A variant of Macalpine, which see. Umphra McCapen was charged with tumult in Glasgow, 1606 (RPC., VII, p. 244). Robert McCapie in Duntreath was unrelaxed from homing, 1618 (RPC., XI, p. 300), Donald McApie or McCapie appears in 1667 (ibid., 2. ser. II, p. 115). Malcolm McCapine in Balinoe, parish of Ardskeodnish, was fined in 1686 for being a rebel (ibid., 3. ser. XII, p. 236), and John McCapy was town-clerk of Dunbartane, 1689 (ibid., XIV., p. 318).
