Woulfe says same as MacCuarta, MacCuairt, "not improbably a corruption of MacMhuircheartaigh." compare Mackirdy. Nigel M'Corde resigned the lands of Skeich in the sheriffdom of Wigtoune, 1471 (RMS., II, 1025), and Gilbert Makcorde appears in Wigtownshire, 1473 (ALHT., I, p. 9). John M'Cord and George M'Cord were occupiers of Nether Barnele in Carrick, 1544 (RMS., III, 3025), and William M'Cord was admitted burgess of Glasgow, 1627 (Burgesses).
