MACCORNACK, Maccornock: Current variants of Maccormack, q. v. Mirabella McCornak had sasine of the lands of Stronegassill, Kirkcudbrightshire, 1516 (ER., XIV p. 587), and Robert Makcomak de Strongassil confirmed a charter in 1530 (RMS., III, 985). Catharine M'Cornock was married in Edinburgh, 1682 (Edinb. Marr.), and in 1684 Margaret McCornock is recorded in the parish of Carsfern (RPC 3. ser. IX, p. 575), Hew McCornick was bailie of Maybole, Ayrshire, 1688 (ibid., XIII, p. 208), and William M'Cornock appears in Dumfries, 1732 (Dumfries). The name of John M'Cronock an exiled Covenanter from Colmonell, drowned in shipwreck off Orkney, 1679 (Hanna, II, p. 253) is probably a misspelling. Makcoroik 1527.
