Ewen Mactorquedil or Ewgyne M'Corquheddell was summoned to appear before the sheriff in Perth in 1430, and to bring his charters and evidents with him (HP., II, p. 162; Invent. Scrymgeour family docs., 20). In 1434 there is record of a charter to Ewen, son of Ewen Makcomuydill, lord of Maintelan (properly Phantelan) (OPS., II, p. 96,124). In 1495 Ewen Mikcorcadill granted his lands of Edderlin, etc., to Archibald, earl of Argyll, in exchange for other lands (RMS., II, 2352), and in 1509 his son, Ewne Maccorquodill was retoured heir of his father in lands in Argyll (OPS., II, p. 87). The shortened forms Maccorkill, which see, and Maccorkle are also in current use. The Maccorquodales are classed as a sept of Macleod but there is no evidence of any relationship between them.
