MACCURE: A form of Maciver, which see, current in Galloway. Muldouy McCure and Donald Roy McCowir were tenants of Drumglust in 1504, and John McKewyr was tenant of Braune in the same year (ER., XII, p. 663,664). Vyr MacCuir was officer of the earl of Argyll at Strath ache in 1558 (LCD., p. 231), and Ewin M'Kewer of Largothene witnessed Argyll's letters of fire and sword against Clangregor in 1565 (BBT., p. 212). A debt was due to Robert McCuir in 1572 (RPC., II, p. 167), Robert M'Cuir was burgess of Edinburgh, 1577 (RPC., II, p. 728), Joannes Mackure was burgess of Edinburgh, 1614 (Retours, Edinburgh, 1485), Katherine M'Cur. spouse of Dougall Campbell of Bricher, also appears in Edinburgh, 1619 (Retours, Edinburgh, 418), John McCuir, writer in Glasgow, took the Test in 1682 (RPC., 3. ser.
