Robert M'Quhittroche in Culquha (Kirkcudbright) was a charter witness in 1643 (Laing, 2330), and John MacKit-trick and John Kittrick (without the 'mac') were residents in the parish of Rorgue in 1684 (RPC., 3. ser. IX, p. 567). John M'Whitrock appears in Raentone, 1687 (Kirkcudbright). The name is also current under the form Munkittrick. Some of this name have changed to Ketteridge as 'more genteel' (Trotter).
