At the same date Johan Ewynsone MacGilcrist, one of the king's tenants in Perthshire also rendered homage (ibid., p. 202). Douenaldus Makgilkriste, dominus de Tarbard, granted to the monks of Paisley the right of cutting wood within all his territory for the building and repair of their monastery (RMP., p. 157). Archibald M'Gilcreist in Sallum, Tiree, was denounced rebel in 1675 (HP., I, p. 296), John Macklechreist appears in Edinburgh in 1659, and James Mclll-Crist was warded in the Canongate Tolbooth there in 1684 (BOEC., IX, p. 193). John McGilchrist was clerk depute to justices of peace of district of Glasgow, 1709 (Minutes, p. 53). The name is said to be Englished Cliristison and Christie. M'Yllecrist 1536.
