MACMURRICH: A variant form of Macvurich q. v. Macmurich was a well-known name in Jura, and is at present, in the form of Currie, not unusual in some of the adjoining isles. Cristin M'Munich of Garharf was bailie of Cowell, 1535 (Lamont, p. 53), and Alexander M'Murrich, Gylcrist M'Munich, Finlay M'Murrich, and Donald M'Murrich were witnesses in the same document. Donald Makmumche in Killage, 1597, Murdoch Roy M'Murrich was one of those murdered by the Covenanters at Dunaverty, 1647 (HP., II, p. 257). M'Murriche 1663, M'Murrycht 1570.
